#257669 Happy Birthday, Tyler!

Posted by Tyler on 18 May 2018 - 11:46 AM

Thanks much guys... I spent the day gardening and enjoying the sunshine.

LOOK what I got for my birthday... this video is taken just before she finished it but I received the finished painting today - it took my breath away and it's off to the framing shop. I will post a pic when it's framed...

This is a short video from Denise showing the present, the same wonderful childhood friend who did the solo portrait of my boy.

:)

The last one is just to show the fine detail and beautiful job the framing shop did. He was on display in the shop window when I went to get him and I almost dropped to my knees on the sidewalk. He's also on the front page of their website. :)

Watching over me like he always did....

#250358 Savannah, GA

Posted by Navy on 27 November 2016 - 02:46 PM

A few years ago, my wife and I visited Savannah, GA - I've always liked "the old South" and nothing says "Old South" quite like Savannah.  Unfortunately the weather was uncooperative which gives us an excuse to go back and visit again.

A few shots from Bonaventure Cemetery - featured in the movie / book "From The Garden of Good and Evil"

We also visited Tybee Island - I love lighthouses - I guess it goes back to my Navy days :).

P.S. Navy's avatar is at my house too... he was the chef for our labor day BBQ weekend. :) (rubbing the meat seemed to take him a very long time though if I recall... ).

I had to find this and dig it out of the archives.  Holy crap - look how young (and thin) I was.  And Tyler - the kitchen must bring you flashbacks! :)

Three photos that I found on the Web today that I am excited about. The photos are very different but the majesty and "wow" factor in all three emanate from the same source. I will concede that in the first one, it is both the sun AND the rain at the same time that makes the shot so eye catching. The photographer made mention that through all of the rain, the sun was still shining and the net was catching it just right. There is much that can be said about the second one. Sunflowers turned brilliant by their own namesake. It is as if they are attempting to become one in the same. The petals ablaze from the sun shining through them, and the sun trying so hard to imitate them. The last one is my favorite. That's Mt. Rainier in the background. The colors are at once subdued and burning fiercely as if the lake is on fire. I bet the photographer wished for that moment to never end. Such a magical time of day to be out in the snow. No doubt the silence was deafening, and beautiful.

#257597 And how was your day???

Posted by Smokeshadow on 11 May 2018 - 06:36 PM

Sorry for being incommunicado since Tuesday.  I've had my house repainted this past week; and, this past Sunday evening, I disconnected the computers in the office in anticipation of the painters working in that room on Monday.  Which they did  :claps:   :claps:   :claps:  Anyway, when I re-connected the computers on Tuesday, I got no power or connection to my internet modem  :bad PC:  :bad PC:   I even tried connecting it directly to the convenience outlet. . .no luck.  So, I contacted AT&T about getting a service technician out to look at the problem.  Friday (today) between 2 and 4 pm was the earliest  <_<  After hanging around the house until 4:15 pm today and not being contacted or no one showing up, I called AT&T again.  Was told that their national dispatch service hadn't even contacted a service tech at that time.  The young man on the phone apologized and said he'd get one to be within 30 minutes.  Was he on the ball  :claps:  :claps: Turns out that it was the power chord and brick.  Got that swapped out and I've been online and cleaning out spam since about 5:30 pm  and catching up on my browsing.

BTW - the house looks great ! ! ! And, I'm enjoying clean surfaces and door facings  :haha:   Was very pleased with the price quotes I received.  For exterior painting (soffits & fascia, trim, siding above roof, garage & patio door and re-staining front door) and interior painting (all rooms except closets. . .ceilings, walls & trim and door facings), in a 2,199 square foot house with 15 foot high ceilings in the main rooms, and 10 foot high ceilings in the bedrooms, dining room and office; 2 color. . .power blue in the common areas and warm yellow in the bedrooms. . .price was just slightly over $ 6,200.  :rainbowbounce:
