Yeah me too. I just can't believe that MS thought it was appropriate to removed it. Real estate is precious on that desktop. Next thing you know we're going to need to create our own Power button.

I've embraced the search by the windows icon. I just click and type mouse, printer, display, background, sound, etc. and only occasionally control. Works fine now that I'm used to it. BUT I will say for my work computers I've created a shortcut on my desktop and coded it for locking my screen and changed the icon to an actual lock and placed it on my task bar for quicker lock down when I walk away. The new standard three clicks for that same action is ridiculous.

It appears that very soon I will be switching to a new Windows 10 desktop PC, and I must admit that I'm more than a little concerned about learning to use the Windows 10 format.  It will come preinstalled on the new PC so I really don't have much choice. Does it still come with Internet Explorer as the default browser??  If so, at least that part should be familiar. MY current IE browser is currently giving me lots of problems, so I have bean using Google Chrome & Firefox occasionally, but just when I need to. I think the hardest thing for me will be learning to use all those apps. Anyway, you may be seeing a lot of forum posts from me asking for help until I get oriented to using Widows 10.

I'd suggest just a bit of reading and understand that you can easily tweak 10 to work very much like 7 and 8.

So much of the "change" is tied to marketing and connecting your identity to the net for targeted marketing. So it seems SO different but really the change experience has not been much different than going from 3.1 to 95 back in the day. "Read, embrace, tweak and move on!" has been my saving grace moto.

Specifically, the new default browser is Edge, but Internet Explorer is still there. You just have to click the search/cortana box by the start menu icon and type internet explorer to get it! And of course Edge works fairly well, but I still use Firefox and Chrome for personal stuff and reserve Internet Explorer as business only as required by my employer. I use Edge to problem solve issues of access or security blocks and it's worked out nicely for me. Best wishes and ENJOY! :love3:
