What a PITA! All for nothing. You use Apple, right? Doe it have any kind of cloud backup capabilities? Or can you write what we in the PC world call an Image Copy to an external? I donno anything at all about Apple, but there has to be some way to back up your dive so that the whole thing can be recovered rather than one program at a time.

Good luck Smoke. We've all been there. Not fun.

It's not an Apple.  I haven't had an Apple since the Apple II was state of the art    I'm running Windows 10 on an HP system that I've had since Windows 7 originally came out.  As old as it is, I'm surprised the hard drive lasted as long as it did  :claps:   :claps:   :claps:   And, I back-up important data to both another computer and a removable drive.  I guess you could say that I back-up porn images to Tylersroom forums  :haha:   Software. . .hardly ever.  It's just easier to grab the CD/DVD and re-install.  Except, as I said, now-a-days, nobody provides hard copy software anymore.  It's all on a download  :bang:

Hummm, who was I confusing the Apple thing with? Seems like one of us regulars here uses Apple. Sorry, I was thinking it was you. Anyway, it's all much easier with an Image Copy. Just something to keep in mind. Personally, I do image and also separate backups of docs, pics, personal videos (not the porn) and the like. BUT, if I ever need to restore for any reason, and god knows I put myself in that position more often than I should, I usually end up reloading from the ground up as you are doing because I just love to do that.

So far, the only problem I've encountered is with trying to reload my Word Perfect suite.  It gets to the point where it asks for the security key, which I enter exactly as it is on my account with Corel, and then the install routine tells me that the key is invalid.   :bang:   :bang:   I've got an e-mail into Corel's tech support, but as of right this minute, I haven't heard back other than the robo mail that says they've received my enquiry :bad PC:

POSSIBLY  you have used up all of the "reloads" allowed. The mother ship keeps track of every time that license is loaded PLUS you have a new hard drive so it isn't matching up with the info that was collected previously. That signals a different PC. I had that happen once with MS Office and I called directly to their help desk and they somehow approved it while I was on the phone.
