Another phallic London landmark - the Swiss Re Building, known as the Gherkin (amongst other things)

Woa I had no idea London had contemporary architecture like that. Thanks for posting those, so cool and interesting. All we ever get to see here of London is mainly the classical stuff that we have seen for generations on post cards and biscuit tin lids. ( well ok I'm exaggerating a wee bit ) Like you zoni I am interested in run down looking places. Especially ones that tell alot of the present social climate of an area. I'll give you an example this is one I took in Mt Roskill Auckland. Most houses are tenanted. Its very populated with immigrants. To the left of the green house they are demolishing everything and putting another motorway ( freeway *whatever*) through. So needless to say everyone living there is just freaking. :scared2:

Not really architecture, but it sort of fits the theme.

I think I can out do you, Zon, matey...

I have a strange fascination for these old, rustic shacks.

This is a pic from my trippe last year.

I'm surprised to see that nobody's mentioned Melbourne's architectural masterpiece... it cost them millions and years to build this de-lite... And it still looks like it was designed by a 5 year old & looks like a bunch of racoons vomited all over it. In case you don't belive it's real, it even has its own web site: www.federationsquare.com.au :thumbs down: :thumbs down: :thumbs down:

I love Melbourne and have been there many times. Federation Square is as confusing inside as it is hideous outside. I cannot see anything futuristic or artistic about, its ridiculous in my opinion. Actually I don't know any Australian who can say anything positive about it. What pisses me off most it that its located in a place opposite a beautiful Cathedral, a classic rail station building, On the banks of the Rarra River . Yes , its in ya face

Does this fall under 'weird' architecture? The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona:

Not a building as such, but certainly a pretty strange sculpture at the Bristish Library in London:
